1. Policy Statement

In an effort to create a cohesive, highly functional catalog for the Anytown High School Library Collection, all material formats will be cataloged using pre-selected authoritative reference sources.


2. Procedures

· Motion Pictures

Standards for Description:
· Rules:

· Standards Used to Produce Electronic Records:
o MARC21 (format)
o ISBD (rules)
· Subject Heading Authority:
o Sears List of Subject Headings
· Collection Organization:
o DDC (Dewey Decimal Classification)

2c. Levels of Description
The following elements are the minimum requirements for description of an item in the Anytown High School Library Collection as they are needed to support user tasks of finding and identifying an item.
· Title Proper
· Statement of Responsibility
· Edition Statement
· Numbering
· Publisher, Distributer, Date of Publication/Distribution etc.
· Physical Description
· Series Statement
· Notes (Summary, Primary Audience, etc)
· Resource Identifier (Standard Number, Terms of Availability, etc)
